British homeowners could be banned from users gas boilers altogether, as the Government ramps up plans to make the country carbon neutral by 2050. Lord Duncan of Springbank, the climate change minister, said that a new white paper would be looking at a range of options to cut the country’s carbon footprint, including scrapping gas central heating altogether. However, he admitted the “bigger decisions” within the report will have a number of consequences for infrastructure and fuel poverty, which he said would be tackled ahead of publication. The new proposals come shortly after plans were announced to ban the sale of all non-electric cars by 2035, five years earlier than previously planned.
